About Purex 200 & 400 Series Filtration Machines
- Product Features: Medium-sized fume extractors designed for laser machines and soldering lines. The Alpha 200/400 (analogue) units are cost-effective “bench-top” fume extractors with simple controls – typically a single speed knob and LED filter-block warning. Despite their simplicity, they use the same high-quality stainless steel construction and filter technology (HEPA + carbon filters) for effective laser fume removal. The 200i/400i (digital) models add a graphic LCD display and sensors: they continuously monitor airflow, gas, and particle levels and alert the user when filters are saturated. Automatic flow control is standard, keeping extraction volume ~constant as the filter loads. The 200-series units have ~170–200 m³/h airflow, suited for small lasers or solder stations. The 400-series (~400 m³/h) have more powerful motors for heavier fume loads or multiple pickup points. Each has a compact footprint (e.g. the Alpha 400 stands ~885 mm tall) and operates on 120–230 V power. Alpha units include features like a built-in LED filter status and quiet operation, making them simple to install and relocate in any workshop. Digital i-series units (e.g. 200i) include advanced features like gas sensors on the exhaust to warn when filter breakthrough occurs, and can interface with external equipment (for example, a laser’s ON signal or an external remote). All models use high-performance blower motors and multi-stage filtration (pre-filter pads and main filters), ensuring safe capture of laser-generated particles and VOC fumes.
- Maintenance & Service: Routine maintenance for 200/400 series focuses on filter care. The pre-filter pads should be checked frequently and replaced when visibly dirty to protect the main HEPA filter. The machine’s display (on “i” models) or LED will indicate when the main filter is becoming blocked. On analog units, plan to replace filters annually at minimum. Keep the air inlet and internal sensor (if equipped) clean – vacuum or wipe out any accumulated dust when changing filters (in Alphas, the pre-filter sits above the main filter). Like the FumeCubes, periodically inspect the flex hoses or ducting attached: ensure no kinks or cracks and that joints are tight. If the unit is used for solder fumes, note that the 200i High Performance (HP) variant is designed for very high volumes (e.g. up to 50 soldering tips) with minimal maintenance – it automates flow adjustment so each tip gets proper extraction. Still, even the 200i HP will need its large main filter changed on schedule (these high-use scenarios may require filter changes every few months). Jorlink offers replacement blower motors, circuit boards, and other service parts; however, these units are generally very reliable – ensure any service beyond filter changes (like motor replacement) is done by a qualified technician or through Jorlink’s support services.
- Compatible Accessories: These units often connect to laser engraving machines or soldering jigs. Purex connection kits are available – for example, a kit with hoses and connectors to link a 200/400 unit to a laser cutter’s exhaust port. Different inlet adapters and manifolds can be fitted: e.g. a multi-splitter manifold to draw from two small machines at once, or a funnel attachment for capturing solder fumes over a bench. No software is required; the digital models have built-in firmware, and an optional RS232/USB interface can be used for remote monitoring if needed.
- Replacement Parts: Filters are the most common replacement. The 200/400 series use a pre-filter pad (e.g. P/N 202260 or 200225, depending on model) and a main filter. Main filters for the 200/400 come in variants like HEPA/Chemical combo or all-chemical (for heavy gas situations). Jorlink supplies the exact filter cartridges: e.g. the Purex 200i/400i main filter (part code depends on model) – the Purex 400i uses filters in the “400-800 m³/h” Core range, such as the “650” or “800” series filters. (Customers can use Jorlink’s Purex Filter Finder tool to identify the correct filter by model.) Other parts: replacement pump/motor assemblies, inlet gaskets, and internal sensors are available via the Purex Parts Finder. For the Alpha analog units, the speed control knob and indicator LEDs can be obtained if they wear out. The digital 200i/400i units have electronic boards and displays – matching PCB boards and display modules can be sourced through Jorlink if needed. Additionally, power cords, fuses, and switches are stocked (for example, the Alpha 200/400 use standard 5 Amp fuses and IEC power inlets). Every unit’s spare parts (down to screws and lid latches) are listed in Jorlink’s Purex parts catalog, ensuring long-term serviceability.
