Mercury III Error Message: WORKING TABLE HAS REACHED ITS LIMIT

Mercury III machine displays "Working Table Has Reached Its Limit" when attempting to auto focus or moving table up. Older MIII with 5206e MCB.

  1. 1st, check that the Auto Focus Pin is NOT stuck and the pin can be moved.  The pin can get debris or gunk from the smoke and cause the pin to actuate the limit switch error message.  Clean the pin, make sure its moving freely or replace\remove the pin to move the table with the up\down arrows.
  2. Sometimes the auto focus cable can break, the 3-stranded cable can create a short activating the error.  For this, we recommend to remove the cable from the x-axis sensor PCB that is next to the x-axis motor.
  3. Enter the DIAGNOSTICS MODE (press AF Button & Turn ON machine while holding this button), scroll to Z-axis motor and move table UP or DOWN.
  4. Check the two (2) table limit switches, make sure the cables are connected to the switches.  They should be connected to the CLOSE LOOP pins.

  5. Limit switches on a mercury are as follows:
Bottom limit switch is located next to Z motor - underneath the table
    Z-Motor Limit Switch
And the top limit switch is located on the top bottom left side of the working table.

Check JP33 circled in yellow below on the 5206MB.
    MCB 5206e JP33
Finding the two limit switches, follow the wire to the port connector ( not on the mainboard) - disconnect one switch at a time - and insert the jumper to bypass the switch to see if that switch is the culprit.
The switch is a closed loop so when the table presses on the switch it will open the loop and stop the table from continuing.
