      Key Notes:
      1. Lightly place screws to hold rail in place ( do not tighten ) 
      2. Pull rail toward you ( you should be behind the machine )  then tighten the screws - i would also check ( i believe you told me it does ) make sure the rail hits on both sides evenly when bringing the rail towards you  - 
      One thing to note is that since the machine you are working on is older - i would check belt tension on the Y-axis both left and right to make sure tension is even - then square the rail -
