The electrical specs for the 5000i are:
- Voltage: 220V
- Frequency: 50/60Hz
- Rated Power: 7.5KW
5000i has an internal breaker of 32A. The maximum blower output is 27A, normally doesn't reach that value.
The literature states “220 Vac 3 Phase 7.5Kw” This translates to 220 VAC 3-Phase, the unit has an internal 32-amp breaker.
Local service recommendation varies dependent on code, but typically for best results you should exceed the capability of amperage by 5% at least in equipment of this kind. This means that if the service is 220 Vac in 3P the dedicated service should be at least 34 Amps or a 35Amp breaker.
Due to this machine’s motor the end user’s service breaker will need to be a “c type” breaker. This unit and units like it are recommended to be hard wired as its motor is capacitive. If hardwiring is not possible then at a minimum, a turn lock plug should be used and signage for the potential electrical hazard should be posted.
Other questions we have been asked: “Can we used 208 VAC in 3P?” The answer is “Maybe, but you shouldn’t…” It would be best to get a boost transformer installed. 208v is just outside of the recommended operational range, however clients often do so at their own risk and machines seem to work if the power is clean, never dropping low. Machines do run a little warm and this may contribute to early failure, no hard data is available on this.
